  • I'm no pro - I need help training my dog. Do you train my dog for me?
If you would like professional dog trainers to work hands on with your dog we recommend enrolling your dog in our Enrichment Center Day School. We have more information about this service on our Day School page. This service comes with an online school to follow along at home, but if you want to make faster progress it is helpful to enroll in a group class or a few private training sessions so you know how to work with your dog at home!
  • My dog is 5 months (or older) and has never taken a group class before. What class should I take?
As long as your dog does not bark, lunge and growl at other people and dogs when they are on leash, we recommend beginning with the Beyond Basics class. You can see upcoming classes and snag a spot here: www.k9wisdom.propetware.com
  • My dog has already taken a basic class at another facility, what group class should we start in?
We suggest starting with our Beyond Basics level class to get acquainted with our training methods and cues before progressing to a more advanced class. This helps ensure a smooth transition and prevents any gaps in your dog's learning and skills.
  • My puppy is younger than 5 months old, where should we start?
We recommend our Puppy Kindergarten group class for all puppies 5 months and younger! We also offer drop-in puppy socialization hours to ensure you are meeting all of your puppy's socialization needs.
  • How do I sign up for a group class?
Please head over here to view upcoming classes and register for a class that works for your schedule: www.k9wisdom.propetware.com When creating your account, you'll need to add your dog to your account before the scheduling app will allow you to book a class.
  • What should I bring to class?
All the good things! Check out our required & recommended list of supplies, and the stellar local pet shops to grab the gear at! We recommend bringing your gear in a backpack so that your hands are free at the beginning of class to train and work with your dog!
  • How much are group classes?
Majority of our group classes are $195 for a 6 session class. We also offer a variety of other classes, and the prices vary depending on length and training goals of each class. We have all our prices listed on our Group Class page, where you'll find prices and detailed information on each class.
  • What is your Group Class Cancellation and Rescheduling Policies?
If you are already taking a class that has started, there are no refunds given or credit towards another class given for cancellations or rescheduling. There is no charge for group class cancellations or reschedules made more than 10 days in advance, except for a processing fee on any credit card refunds issued. There are no refunds or credits for another class given for cancellations made within 10 days of the start of your class.
  • Can my dog attend when in heat?
Yes! We ask that you have your dog wear a doggy diaper for the duration of class. It can be helpful to desensitize your dog to the doggy diaper prior to class so it's not an added distraction to your dog.
  • My puppy will not be fully vaccinated by the start of the first class, can we still attend training classes?
Yes! Puppies do not need to be fully vaccinated to begin class, but they need to have received the appropriate vaccinations for their age according to your vet's puppy vaccination schedule. You can see our vaccination requirements & recommendations here:
  • My vet advises that we wait until our puppy is fully vaccinated prior to starting a group class, what are your thoughts on this?
We urge clients to do research on the importance of early socialization and have a well-informed discussion with their Veterinarians on attending puppy classes. We believe that is is crucial to a dog's behaviorial health and wellness to enroll in a well-run Puppy Kindergarten class prior to 3 months of age. We agree with the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior that the primary and most important time for puppy socialization is the first three months of life. During this time puppies should be exposed to as many new people, animals, stimuli and environments as can be achieved safely and without causing over stimulation manifested as excessive fear, withdrawal or avoidance behavior. For this reason, the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior believes that it should be the standard of care for puppies to receive such socialization before they are fully vaccinated. You can read the AVSAB's full position statement on early socialization and taking your puppy through a puppy class here:
  • I want to take the group class, but would love to get started ASAP. What are my options?
You're in good hands, as we've created a package just for you! You'll learn how to navigate common puppy struggles (house training, nipping, chewing, and more!) in our Pup Anarchy: From Shark Puppy to Well-Mannered Pup Hybrid Course! This Hybrid Course gives you 9 total sessions - 3 individual, private training sessions with a certified trainer and enrollment in the next upcoming puppy class! More details are in our Private Training Packages page!
  • My puppy is 6 months old, can I sign up for the Puppy Kindergarten class?
We recommend our Beyond Basics class for all puppies 5 months and older.
  • What is the training method you use?
We believe dogs learn behaviors best with humane training methods. We utilize Mark and Reward based training and clicker training as we feel this opens up the line of communication between owner and their canine sidekicks, all while speeding up learning! We value and believe in the power of relationship-based training and use it as the core when working with clients and their canine best friends. Knowing all dogs (and owners!) learn differently, we use training styles that work for the individual dog/owner team, setting every client up for success!
  • Do you offer board and trains?
No, we do not offer board and trains. We do offer a drop-off day school, though! If you'd like more information about our Day School, please head over here:
  • How do I schedule private training sessions?
All consultations and private sessions are scheduled on the back end. Which is just a fancy way of saying we schedule the appointments on our end! If you'd like to sign up for a consultation or private session, please email us at info@k9wisdomtraining.com
  • What are your training center's cleaning and disinfecting policies?
Our backgrounds are in the shelter world, and we run our cleaning protocols in the same models that current research shows are ideal for a shelter environment! We do this to ensure that we stay on top of any potential outbreaks! We do not live in a bubble, and obviously cannot ensure that a contagious dog without symptoms enters our building, but I can ensure that all the strict cleaning protocols and company policies we have are in place to counteract that if it happens! We go above the PACFA recommended cleaning protocols, and always have since opening! Each crate or kennel is cleaned thoroughly and then disinfected with shelter and veterinary grade cleaning products after a dog leaves for the day and prior to another dog being placed in a kennel. During times when kennel cough and other respiratory viruses may be circling, such as now, we increase the dilution of our veterinary grade disinfectant as recommended by the manufacturer. In the 12 years that I've been open, we've never had an out of control outbreak of any kind here due to our diligent cleaning protocols! Our daily cleaning checklist is here to ensure that we keep the dogs in our care healthy! That includes disinfecting and sanitizing with veterinarian grade cleaning solutions daily. In fact, we rotate between two of the best kennel cleaning disinfectants on the market to ensure we do not miss anything! One of the disinfectants we use is a popular veterinary grade disinfectant in the shelter world, and as you can imagine, the chances of disease and viruses are much higher in an environment such as that! The other one we rotate through is a highly recommended doggy daycare disinfectant that many of the top daycares use! In addition, we follow CSU's vet hospital vaccination recommendations and all the dogs in our care are up to date on vaccines at our day school, in our group classes and private training sessions.
  • Can my children and family members attend training?
Yes! We encourage all humans who live with the dog attend training. This ensures everyone is on the same page. We do have some guidelines and rules to bringing the kiddos along! Please see the information below to ensure you're all set up to bring your child with you to class!
  • What are the general guidelines to bringing children to group class?
We adore kids, and we adore dogs - and kiddos are always welcome in our group classes! But, it's important that we have some rules in place around dog and kid interactions so we're respecting all the dogs in our space! Please help us ensure that all dog and children's interactions are positive both for our two and four legged friends! To help us with this, please follow these guidelines: Please be mindful that your child is under direct supervision and remain next to their parents at all times. Children (and adults for that matter) are not allowed to move freely around the training center or invade the training space of other dogs and their humans. Please do not allow your children to pet or approach the other dogs in the facility as not all dogs are comfortable around children. Prior to each class please speak to your child on respecting the space of other dogs in class. We're pretty entertaining instructors 😉 but some children find class boring! Please bring items to occupy their time such as a tablet or a quiet game or coloring book. Your child is more than welcome to help train the dog and many children enjoy training. Please supervise all interactions during class and at home to ensure the dog is enjoying the training as much as the child is! Thank you for helping us keep our facility a child-friendly space and helping teach the next generation of humans how to properly interact with the dogs who live in and outside of their homes!
  • Can my child pet the other dogs in class?
We kindly ask that if you bring your child to class that you have a conversation with them prior to class each week about not approaching the other dogs. This gives you a great opportunity to discuss how some dogs don't enjoy being approached by people they don't know, and that the dogs in class are there to learn and may become overly excited when greeting people - so it's best to adore the other dogs in class from afar!
