Our Intermediate All Star class builds upon the foundation established during the Beyond Basics class. It introduces more advanced cues and behaviors, enhancing your dog's abilities and responsiveness. This stage of training is crucial for dogs of all ages, as it reinforces existing skills while introducing new challenges that promote mental stimulation, better behavior, and a stronger bond between you and your dog.
This class teaches you how to incorporate the three D's—duration, distance, and distraction—into your training sessions, and helps you and your dog reach your full potential as a team and enjoy a more fulfilling and harmonious life together.
Key Benefits:
Advanced Communication:
Intermediate All Star class includes more complex cues and commands, such as "stay" for extended periods, "heel" with distractions, Go to Place when the doorbell rings, advanced recall training, and handling concepts to make you a better dog owner!
In this class we begin to incorporate the three D's to training — duration, distance, and distraction — which helps fine-tune your dog's responsiveness and reinforces their understanding of know cues.
Improved Behavior:
Training at this level addresses specific behavioral issues, such as leash pulling, impulse control, and reactivity to stimuli.
Dogs learn to exhibit self-control and remain calm in various situations, contributing to better overall behavior.
Enhanced Safety:
With advanced training, your dog becomes more reliable in responding to cues, even in distracting environments.
This heightened level of obedience can prevent accidents and ensure your dog's safety in busy or potentially dangerous situations.
Strengthened Bond:
The collaborative effort required for intermediate training fosters trust and deepens the bond between you and your dog.
Working together on more challenging tasks strengthens the human-canine relationship.
Mental Stimulation:
Intermediate training provides mental challenges that keep your dog engaged and sharp.
Engaging their minds helps prevent boredom, which can lead to undesirable behaviors.
Increased Socialization:
Continued socialization and interactions with other dogs and people, promoting positive social behaviors and reducing anxiety in social settings.
Exposure to various environments and stimuli helps your dog remain calm and confident.
Foundation for Advanced Training:
Intermediate training prepares your dog for more advanced training, such as agility, therapy work, or specialized skills.
It lays the groundwork for future achievements and activities.
The Three D's in Training:
Duration: Gradually increasing the length of time your dog can perform a cue, such as staying in a sit or down position.
Distance: Teaching your dog to respond to cues from varying distances, ensuring they obey even when you're farther away.
Distraction: Training your dog to maintain focus and obey cues despite distractions, such as other dogs, people, or noises.
Training Tips:
Consistency: Use the same cues and signals to reinforce learned behaviors.
Patience: Training can be challenging, so be patient and persistent with your dog.
Positive Reinforcement: Reward desired behaviors with treats, praise, and affection to encourage repetition.
Gradual Progression: Introduce new tasks gradually to avoid overwhelming your dog and ensure steady progress.
